waikoloa baptist church
Waikoloa Village, Big Island Hawai’i.
At Waikoloa Baptist Church our supreme goal is to exalt and glorify God while sharing the love of Jesus Christ to the whole world.
“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods,
for his steadfast love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords,
for his steadfast love endures forever.”
Psalm 136:1-3
Waikoloa Baptist Church started in 1989 in a small building with dirt floors, behind the Waikoloa Village Fire Station, humbly gathering to worship the Lord on this island in the middle of the pacific. In April of 1992 the land in which we currently reside was purchased by the Hawai’i Pacific Baptist Convention (HPBC) as a mission church of First Baptist Church Waimea. In September of 1994, building permits were issued. In September of 1996, two occupancy permits were issued - one for a church and one for a church/daycare, and in 1998 we were officially constituted as a church. The property was officially deeded to Waikoloa Baptist Church in 2003.
Waikoloa Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church, and a member of the Hawaiian Pacific Baptist Association as well as the Big Island Baptist Association. You can learn more about the history of the Southern Baptist Church HERE.
We welcome people from all walks of life, both those local to the Big Island and visitors from afar, to come and join us in worship and study of the Lord’s word.
The purpose of this church is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with all people, to assist people to have a personal relationship with Jesus, by grace through faith, to help each person become a mature member of the church (Christ’s body), and to help people experience a growing knowledge of God through worship, Christian education, and faithful living in a relationship of love and service to one another in Christ’s name.

“Great and amazing are your deeds,
O Lord God the Almighty!
Just and true are your ways,
O King of the nations!
Who will not fear, O Lord,
and glorify your name?
For you alone are holy.
All nations will come
and worship you,
for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
— 15 Revelation 3-4
Waikoloa Baptist Church’s Statement of Faith:
Waikoloa Baptist Church follows the doctrinal statement known as the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, which you can read HERE. We believe in the Great Commission to make disciples of all nations. We give to these efforts both locally, as well as within the Southern Baptist Convention’s Cooperative Program. We support and take up three special mission offerings each year through our Hawaiian Pacific Baptist Convention (HPBC): The Sue Nishikawa Offering for Hawaii Pacific Missions, The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions, and The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions. More information can be found HERE.
1. We affirm the Holy Bible as God’s inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word to us. We also affirm that it is the basis for our beliefs and the sole authority for our faith and practice.
2. We agree in principle and in spirit with the most recent doctrinal statement of the Baptist Faith and Message as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention.
3. We voluntarily band ourselves together as a body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ, personally committed to sharing the Good News of salvation to lost mankind.
4. We believe that the ordinance of baptism is the immersion in water of a professed believer in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried and risen Savior, and his own death to sin, the burial of his old life, and his resurrection to a new life in Jesus Christ.
5. We believe that the Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby a member of the Body of Christ, in obedience to His command, partake of the bread and the fruit of the vine, to commemorate the sacrificial death of the Lord Jesus Christ.
